*NEW* MSc in BioHealth Informatics (with special studentships from the UK Medical Research Council)

The MSc in BioHealth Informatics is a collaborative degree programme that brings together expertise from The School of Computer Science, School of Medicine and School of Biological Sciences. It addresses the strong industrial demand for graduates with expertise in both bio and health informatics.

The programme aims to provide training in technologies across the range of Informatics applied to Bioscience and Healthcare. Skills developed on the programmes range from the analysis of genotypes and gene expression data to advanced image processing techniques, advanced information management, clinical terminology, and healthcare records.

The programme is open to students from a range of backgrounds — Biology, Healthcare, Medicine or Computer Science — and looks to provide comprehensive multidisciplinary training tailored to the needs of each student. This course is open to those with a good honours degree with at least 50% Computer Science, or those with a degree in a Medical or Biological Science and sufficient computing experience. Other qualifications, or industrial/health service experience, will be considered.

There are two entry routes to this programme:

Direct Entry: For students with a science degree containing a substantial amount of Computer Science and who have achieved at least a 2(i) result, or an overseas equivalent. Applicants with less formal training but sufficient relevant experience in the computer industry may be considered.

Foundation Route: For students who have a good degree in a Science or Engineering subject but little formal training in Computer Science at degree level. To enter the Advanced Programme you take at least two foundation units by e-Learning, normally in the year preceding entry to the Advanced Programme. One of the foundation units is credited to your MSc. If you wish to enter by this route, please indicate this on your application.
